In retaliation, Pakistan launched a large-scale counterattack involving 70 to 80 drone-carried missiles aimed at various Indian targets. However, thanks to India’s robust air defense system—most notably the S-400 Triumf missile defence system acquired from Russia—all incoming missiles were intercepted and destroyed mid-air. Not a single missile managed to strike any Indian target, preventing what could have been large-scale destruction.

The S-400 system played a critical role in neutralizing Pakistan’s missile offensive. Defence experts have emphasized that without the deployment of this advanced Russian-made system, India could have suffered significant damage. The quick and effective interception by the S-400 highlights India’s preparedness and technological strength in air defense.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has made an unverified claim that it shot down 30 Indian fighter jets during India’s May 7 attack. However, no credible evidence has been provided to support this claim. Pakistani officials have stated that this information is being circulated on social media, but have not presented any physical proof or independent verification to back it up.

India, on its part, clarified that its missile strikes were highly precise and targeted only terrorist facilities. No civilian areas were affected during the operation. The Indian government stressed that all nine missile strikes were aimed exclusively at terrorist headquarters and operational bases, avoiding any harm to civilian infrastructure or population.

The situation remains tense, and international observers are closely monitoring the developments between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. As of now, no further military escalations have been reported, but diplomatic channels are expected to engage soon to de-escalate the crisis.
